Just kidding - but since I’m writing this over Christmas, I can’t get that movie out of my head. Truth be told, that movie is in my head year-round. But that’s a post for another day.
Today we’re talking about Lead Magnets!
What’s a Lead Magnet?
A lead magnet is something you provide online for free, in exchange for people giving you their email address. The key here is that it’s a magnet, so the ‘something’ you give away should be:
Valuable to your consumer
Interesting to your consumer
Basically, it should be something worth giving up their email address for, to draw in your leads.
But What IS It?
It can be almost anything you like!
We’ve all been to sites that offer lead magnets: “Get My Top 5 Easy Recipes for Weekday Dinner” or “Download a Free Checklist for Selling Online” or even “Three Secrets About <insert trendy thing here>”.
Checklists, eBooks, planners, secret website content, coupon codes, micro-training courses, free mugs if you have the marketing budget… you get the idea.
Think about what would work best for your business and your ideal client. If you’re in the medical aesthetics business, maybe it’s a skincare guide. In the book editing business, perhaps a self-publishing guide or top editing tips. Fitness? Try a free 4 week training plan.
Consider what your ideal clients are interested in, then create that and share your download link far and wide! Put it on your site, link it in social media, heck, make a QR code people can scan and post it on your wall!
Why Are Lead Magnets Important?
Email is a focused, inexpensive way to market to both current and future clients. Having a valuable lead magnet entices people to give you their email and opt in to your marketing, and because they download this lead magnet that’s relevant to your business, you know they’re interested.
