3 MORE Tips for Better Blogging

My original post, 3 Tips for Better Blogging, was so popular (thank you, readers!) I wanted to do a follow-up post to share even more tips!

By the way, an example of the first tip is shown in the first sentence above…can you guess what it is?

Did you guess what the first tip is? That’s right…

1: Cross Link Your Posts

As your blog grows, take time to reference your other posts and add links! Not only does this keep your visitors on your site longer, it underscores your expertise and the value you provide to potential customers.

The more content you have, the more you can cross link. The natural tendency is to link new posts back to older ones on similar topics. But don’t forget to show older posts love too! Periodically, go back to older posts and see how to you can reference newer content for cross linking.

2: Link Out to Other Sites

What? I talk all the time about getting visitors to spend more time on your site, so why the heck would I say you should link OUT from your blog? I know, this seems counter intuitive, but there’s a method to my madness.

Linking out to other sites (that open in a new tab, always!) can help educate your customers in greater detail, PLUS drive up your Search Engine Optimization rankings and results!

Here’s an example:

If you have a post that mentions Power Words - like I did in this post - you can link out to a specific list of Power Words on a non-competing authoritative site. This provides readers a chance to learn a LOT more on a topic I simply mention, from a source that isn’t going to steal a potential client from me.

3: Promote Your New Blog Posts

Ok so this tip isn’t about making your blog content better, but it’s important nonetheless.

Once you have a new blog post up, don’t be shy! Promote the heck out of it! Social media posts that link to your new post are a great way to drive visitors - be sure to make them shareable so your audience can grow. If you’re using Instagram, don’t forget to add to your Link In Bio.

With Squarespace, you can automate some of this promotion, plus easily send an email to your list announcing your latest blog post.

So what’s next for your business?

Now that you have even more tips on making a better blog, how will you put these tips to work for you?
